Devon Modell is set for a busy weekend of racing alternating between both Donington Park and Oulton Park for Round 2 of the Courier Connections Renault UK Clio Cup and the Avon Tyres British GT Championship season-opener (18-21 April).

First on the Maidstone-based driver’s itinerary are two UK Clio Cup practise sessions on Easter Friday (18 April) at the history rich Donington Park circuit on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border.

Modell will be looking to obtain some valuable track time in Westbourne Motorsport’s new-spec Clio 200 Cup as he bids to build on his strong performance at Brands Hatch’s season-opener three weeks ago.

Spending much of Saturday (19 April) travelling between tracks via helicopter, 23-year old Modell will first traverse to Cheshire’s picturesque Oulton Park to team-up with Surrey-based outfit, TF Sport, for the opening practise sessions of the British GT Championship on Saturday (19 April), which are scheduled to take place at 09.35 and 12.05 respectively.

Modell – who finished second in class at the 2014 Dubai 24 Hours – will partner Milton Keynes-based Andrew Jarman in TF Sport’s newly-acquired Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4.

With competitors from both series’ taking a well-deserved lunch break, Modell will fly back to Donington Park for UK Clio Cup qualifying at 14.05.

With qualifying scheduled to finish at 14.35, Modell will then be whisked straight back to Oulton Park in preparation for the his first British GT qualifying session at 16.40.

While the day’s events begin to come to a close, Modell will travel back south to Donington Park ready for Sunday’s (20 April) UK Clio Cup Rounds 3 and 4 at 10.05 and 15.47. The Gallery Nightclub-backed driver will be looking to build on his double top-ten finish at Brands Hatch.

Rounding off his race packed weekend are Rounds 1 and 2 of the British GT Championship where he will be looking for podium finishes in his first experience of racing GT-spec machinery. The opening hour-long race will take place at 11.15 followed by the second at 15.45.

Looking ahead to his British GT debut, Modell said: “It’s going to be a huge learning curve for the whole year, but I felt very comfortable the moment I first stepped in the Aston Martin GT4. Oulton Park is one of the tracks I favour. I tested the Aston Martin, but we still have no idea where we are going to be come raceday.

“I’m aiming for the podium and, with such a strong teammate in Andrew (Jarman), we should be quicker than we were at the media day. We are both learning from each other and are very similar on times, which is a huge advantage.”
