Kevin Gleason wants to make a fresh start to his 2015 TCR International Series season following a troubled weekend in Valencia, as the championship readies itself for its fourth instalment at Autódromo Internacional Algarve (9-10 May).
Autódromo Internacional Algarve is a super-modern facility that combines a world-class race circuit, Karting track, off-road park and a hotel and apartment complex in a prime location near the Portuguese coastal resort of Portimão.
Its technical layout, which extends for 4.69km, has received high praise from drivers and fans alike and will surely produce entertaining racing as the host venue for Rounds 7 and 8 and the second European leg of the new-for-2015 TCR International Series.
The championship made its European debut on Spanish soil last weekend (1-3 May) and it proved to be an uphill battle for Gleason and his WestCoast Racing team against the all-conquering SEAT contingent, following a readjustment in the series’ Balance of Performance (BoP).
Nevertheless, Gleason earned a well-deserved fourth place after an attacking drive in what would become a controversial race and the American from Pennsylvania will hope he has an opportunity to fight on an even keel for representative results that match his ability, with race wins and podium finishes the core objective, as always.
“I’m really looking forward to a fresh start in Portugal,” said Gleason. “From what I heard, the track is incredible, and after walking it today, I can confirm that this is a proper racing circuit. The WestCoast Racing guys have been working really hard to get the issues with my car sorted out, so I am hoping to have a more reliable weekend. It doesn’t get much better than back-to-back race weekends.”
