Devon Modell is to return to the British GT Championship following a successful campaign in the Blancpain GT Asia Series in 2017. Devon, who last raced in the British category in 2014, will compete in the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 with RJN Motorsport alongside Struan Moore.

“For me, the British GT Championship is unfinished business,” said Devon with reference to his runner-up position in the GT4 class. “I’m really excited to be back in the series and I can safely say I am looking forward to getting the maximum out of this package having seen it in action recently testing at Snetterton.”

In 2017, Devon, who enjoys support from Gallery Superclub Maidstone, competed with Craft-Bamboo Racing in the Blancpain GT Asia Series where he secured three podium positions on his way to sixth in the highly competitive Silver class, despite only competing in five rounds. In addition, he raced in Asian Le Mans Series, Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East and the LMP3 Cup in the UK.

“I really learned a lot last year in Asia,” Devon continued. “This stands me well for the coming season in British GT. I know the competition will be fierce, but I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I’ll be up against the very best GT racers in the world and that’s the level I feel I am at. I always race to win and I think we’ll be right up there.”

RJN Motorsport are also looking forward to its programme in the British GT Championship. “We’re delighted to welcome Devon to the team,” said team principal Bob Neville. “While we know the competition will be tough, we have a strong partnership here with our drivers and we’re confident that we’ll be competitive.”

The season gets underway at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend and concludes at Donington Park in September.
