Aidan Read will be looking to return to podium winning ways in the latter half of Formula Masters China Series (FMCS), which bursts back into life on the brand new Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit in the Malaysian capital (7-9 August).

Read endured a tough weekend last time out at Taiwan’s Penbay International Circuit, recording his first DNF of his FMCS career and dropping to fourth in the Drivers’ standings, but the young Australian is more determined than ever to return to the podium and claw back points on the championship leaders in a bid to reclaim third in the classification.

Read and his FMCS counterparts are now preparing to zip through the unchartered streets of KL and past some of Malaysia’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Petronas Towers on the 3.4km, 11-turn circuit as part of the brand new Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix.

Excited by the prospect of racing on a brand new circuit in the heart of the Malaysian capital, Read said: “I am looking to retake third position in the Drivers’ standings, as well as claw back points on the leaders in Kuala Lumpur. We have to look forwards and put the car at the front. We have been concluding weekends with strong pace, but we have to make sure we can switch the car on from lap one for the remainder of the season. I’m constantly learning and feel as though I am a far better driver already after just three rounds.

“I’m really looking forward to racing in Kuala Lumpur this weekend on the brand-new street circuit. It is going to be the first time the Formula Masters China Series has raced there, so I believe everyone is in the same boat, in that it will be a completely new circuit to them. From what I’ve seen of it, it should produce some great racing and I cannot wait to get back back behind the wheel after the mid-season break.”
