Young Australian hotshot, Aidan Read, will travel to China’s Shanghai International Circuit this weekend for the second instalment of the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS), where he’ll be hoping to extend his trophy cabinet (5-7 June).

Having tested extensively at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit during the winter months in preparation for his full-time campaign in the FMCS with Eurasia Motorsport, Read took to the 3.45mile Malaysian circuit for the opening three races of the season.

Showing a great turn of speed and determination in mixed weather conditions, Read claimed two podiums, and, while he wasn’t able to sip champagne due to his age, it didn’t stop him spraying it in celebration of holding third in the Drivers’ standings.

Hoping to carry his podium-winning momentum forward to China this weekend, Read returns to Shanghai – the scene of his FMCS debut with Eurasia Motorsport last season, in which he recorded a top ten finish – raring to turn his experience into results.

“I am familiar with the Shanghai International Circuit and it’s a great track and cannot wait to get back out there again this weekend,” said Read. “I raced there in October last year with Eurasia Motorsport to tick off my expectations and understanding of how a FMCS race weekend works. As a result, I went I to Malaysia for the opening round of the 2015 season feeling ready. I am really happy with how the first round turned out and, hopefully, I can turn my experience into an advantage and come away with more podiums. From here we can only look further up the grid.

“I’ve not been to many proper race circuits, barring karting tracks, but Shanghai is very professional and it is always great to race at a Formula 1 venue. The circuit itself has a mixture of high speed corners, especially in the first sector, and, with a long straight out towards the back, a lot of overtaking will be taking place on the charge towards the tight hairpin. I’m really looking forward to getting back out there and having some fun.”

For the 2015 season, the FMCS and partners Sportauto are running a campaign to find the fans’ favourite driver. The FMCS driver who receives the most ‘likes’ will receive a watch from FMCS partner Memorigin at the end of the season.
