Aidan Read will re-join Eurasia Motorsport later this month at the Shanghai International Circuit behind the wheel of a Ligier LMP3 in the China Endurance Cup, formerly known as the FRD LMP3 Series.
Read, a previous winner in the LMP3 category with Eurasia will race alongside Japanese gentleman racer Nobuya Yamanaka in Shanghai and selected further rounds of the China Endurance Series. This is in addition to his Blancpain GT Series Asia commitments, as he takes on a race/coach role with the ambitious Japanese racer.
The 19-year-old Australian has switched his focus recently to the GT3 category racing Lamborghini, Porsche and McLaren machinery this year but has not given up his ambitions in prototypes where he has an enviable start to win ratio, including victory in his last competitive appearance where he won the Sepang round of the Asian Le Mans Series on his LMP2 debut.
“I’m really happy on a number of counts,” said Read. “Firstly, to be invited to race with Nobuya in the China Endurance Series as he is a great guy with a real passion for racing and to do it with Eurasia where I have enjoyed many wins in Formula Masters and in LMP3.
“It’s also great to be racing in a competitive series in a prototype again after a year focusing on GT3. I’ve had a few days testing alongside Nobuya recently and I’m really fired up to do a good job for him and the team as well as myself.”
A full grid of LMP3 machinery is expected in Shanghai for the opening round of the series on 27-29 April as the series enters its second season.
