On the back of six straight wins in the Formula Masters Series, Aidan Read returns to competition this weekend (2-4 December, 2016) as he makes his Asian Le Mans series debut with Eurasia Motorsport in the 4H of Fuji.
Having previously competed in the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup, this is a further step up for Aidan as he joins teammates William Lok and Scott Andrews in the #99 WinEurasia Ligier LMP3 in what is his first four-hour endurance event and his first time competing in Japan.
“I just got into Fuji this morning and I’m really looking forward to the weekend ahead,” Aidan explained. “This weekend will be my first experience in the full 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series. It is also my first four-hour race, it will be a challenge and a new experience from start to finish.
“I have raced twice in this year’s Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup in the WinEurasia LMP3 and I’ll be looking to use those experiences to help adapt to a new track and championship.”
Aidan is also looking forward to the challenge of driving alongside his two new teammates Lok and Andrews and takes comfort that with Eurasia Racing, he knows he will have the equipment to race with the best.
“With my new teammates, it will be important to communicate well throughout the weekend,” he said. “I’m very excited to see what we can do as a team, we will do our best and hopefully we can put together a great race on Sunday.
“I’m very happy to drive with Eurasia again this weekend. I have driven with them for the last two-years in Formula Masters and LMP3. I have confidence in the team and their ability to run a competitive car. It will be great to work with the team again, we will be aiming for another strong result.”
The second round of the Asian Le Mans Series gets underway Sunday 4 December 2016 at 12.15 local time.
