Aidan Read has enjoyed a stunning season in the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS) and is now all set for the season finale this weekend (15-16 October, 2016) at the Penbay International Circuit in Taiwan.

Currently second in the standings on the back of no fewer than six victories and ten podium finishes, the Australian racer is aiming to emulate the results achieved last time out in Malaysia where he took all three race wins from the weekend.

“I’m looking forward to the final race of the 2016 FMCS and ending on a high note,” said Aidan. “In the last few races we have been very consistent and competitive in all conditions, winning three-from-three, and I see no reason why we can’t see more of the same in Penbay.”

Aidan has notched up 166 points so far this year and is 42 points shy of series leader Philip Hamprecht with a maximum of 52 points available. While the title is mathematically possible, Aidan is realistic about his chances and is very-much taking a “wait and see” approach.

“Championship standings are often affected by factors beyond a driver’s total control,” Aidan added. “This season is a perfect example of that for me, so I tend to concentrate on the areas I can influence, those mainly being the driving, the balance and the feedback.”

While on a roll this year, the Penbay event was less kind to Aidan last year as he recorded a best fourth place at the 3.52km circuit. This year he is aiming to continue the momentum from Sepang.

“It’s a tough track – very physical and very technical,” Aidan said. “But with experience from last season, I’ll be looking to hit the ground running and continue my recent form. The objective for me is to continue the race-winning performances and from there the championship results will be maximised.”
