Aidan Read is looking to confirm his standing in the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS) in the second round of 2016 at the Zhuhai International Circuit (16-19 June).

The young Australian arrives in China’s Guangdong Province after back-to-back race wins on his LMP3 debut in the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup, and the Perth-born Read and his Eurasia Motorsport team are confident of being able to deliver and reduce the eight-point gap to championship leader, Nicolas Rowe.

“The LMP3 Asian le Mans Sprint Cup outing was a good, confidence-boosting experience, especially as I scored some good results in a different type of car and with a new racing style,” said Read. “I will bring some of that confidence with me into the Formula Masters China Series the weekend.”

Having recently improved his Eurasia Motorsport-prepared Tatuus-Volkswagen package in testing after the first Formula Masters China round in Shanghai, a self-assured Read is eager to get back behind the wheel in free practice on Friday (17 June) and maximize its potential.

“Coming from the first round, which was held in such difficult conditions, we are looking forward to step up and make some good progress,” said Read. “We are aiming for podiums and we’ll even have a go at a race win this weekend, but we expect top five results at the very least.

“I am very comfortable at the Zhuhai International Circuit after racing there last year and I am feeling confident with the car after all the testing we have done with Eurasia Motorsport recently. The race is not going to be easy, with challenging changeable conditions forecasted, but those will be the same for everyone on the grid.”
