It’s a new look for Eurasia Motorsport this year in the 89th running of the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the Asian-based team running the Racing Team India Eurasia car, fielding the #74 Ligier JS P217 in the Pro-Am class.
For the team’s fifth running of the event, Silver-graded James Winslow and the two Bronze racers of John Corbett and Tom Cloet complete the line-up in this highly competitive LMP2 field, featuring 10 Pro-Am runners in the burgeoning class of 25 entries combined.
For the Racing Team India Eurasia, the driver selection is very much based around the Asian Le Mans Series, where each of the three drivers have competed in the recent past. We’re delighted to be competing at Le Mans, with the event being used as a natural link to the Asian series, and more in 2022.
James Winslow has extensive experience after nearly two decades of competition, including championship success in the Asian Formula 3 championship and more recently he has enjoyed a great deal of success in Prototypes, including the 2016 Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup title win with Eurasia and the Gulf 12 hours, where he took victory in 2018 with Graff. His most recent full-time campaign came in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2020 with Inter Europol, finishing fifth in the four-round championship.
John Corbett has a background in Radical competition in his home country of Australia. He competed in LMP3 machinery with Graff in 2017 in the Michelin Le Mans cup, took title honours in the 2018 24H Pro Series with Simpson Motorsport. Recently, secured second in the Asian Le Mans Series Am class with Eurointernational. Tom Cloet is an experienced Belgian racer who has competed in many a 24-Hour event in his time. He too has recent Prototype experience in both the European and the Asian Le Mans series.
Testing took place at the weekend and the team enjoyed two trouble-free sessions. The official practice and qualifying beginning on Wednesday 18th August. The Tricolor will be waived Saturday 21st to start the 89th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Mark Goddard, Racing Team India Eurasia Team Principal
“It’s a pleasure to be back here at Le Mans, a place where we have so many memories as a team and a competitive track record of going the distance in this, the most demanding race in the world. It’s great to be working with James once again and to also welcome both John and Tom to the fold. It will – as always – be a tough challenge, but ultimately, we will give our all, fly the Ligier flag throughout the week, with the aim of securing another top ten LMP2 finish.”
