Having successfully competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second time, Nick Foster is to return to GT3 racing this coming weekend (25-26 September) at Zandvoort, Holland with SPS Automotive Performance in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup. The Australian joins Valentin Pierburg in the #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Underlying his impressive versatility, Nick has already raced in the Asian Le Mans Series, Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy, World Endurance Championship as well as at Le Mans in the LMP2 class this year. He is, however, no stranger either to GT3 racing and was planning to compete in GT World Challenge Europe and British GT this year until COVID-19 travel issues for his Singapore-based teammate Martin Berry scuppered the programme.

Now he is pleased to be racing in the Pro-Am championship, joining the SPS outfit for the Dutch round of the championship in what is a one-off outing with the team alongside Bronze-rated Pierburg. His last race in similar AMG equipment was at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour race in February. Team regular Dominik Baumann has a calendar conflict and is racing at the 24 Hours Nürburgring.

“It’s good to be jumping back in a race car so quickly after Le Mans,” Nick said. “I will rest a little this week ahead of Zandvoort to recharge myself and then I have the practice sessions to re-acquaint myself with the AMG.

“I’m looking forward to racing at Zandvoort – a really iconic track – and I think we’ll be able to do a good job. It’s a while since I have raced in GT3, but the aim is to build on the team’s solid result from Magny Cours with another podium position.”

Practice takes place on Friday, with qualifying from 17:50 local time. Saturday brings two one-hour races at 09:00 and 13.45.
