Nick Foster is delighted to be adding a new discipline to his already impressive racing resume, as he joins the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY Series for the seven rounds that conclude the all-electric’s second season of competition.
The Australian racer joins Jaguar China Racing in what will be multi-format events run at the Berlin Tempelhof airport circuit to support the FIA Formula E Championship. The series sees entrants compete in a race-prepared Jaguar I-PACE, built by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations team.
“I’m looking forward to doing something very different and learning another skill; hopefully we can fight for some wins,” Nick began. “I’m really stoked to try electric racing, I can’t thank Jaguar and Jaguar China Racing enough for the call up to put me in the car for the back end of the season and I’m really looking forward to see what the series has to offer.”
Nick most recently competed in the Asian Le Mans Series with Eurasia Motorsport, securing three podiums from four starts en route to third position in the championship. He is also a very accomplished GT racer, having taken victory last year in the Intercontinental GT Challenge at Laguna Seca with HubAuto Corsa.
This year Nick was expecting to be competing in both the GT World Challenge Europe and British GT championships, but due to the global pandemic, has been forced to adjust his programme.
“It’s been an odd year,” he admitted. “Everyone is in the same boat obviously and like many, my plans have changed up and down, three ways, sideways, left and right so, unfortunately with the domestic championships not going ahead, it was great to get the call and be offered an opportunity to go and sample some different kind of racing; something that has interested me in the background of my own GT championships.
“Unfortunately missing the first rounds won’t make it easy to fight for the championship but with the majority of the races being held in one place and how the races are going ahead in Berlin, with track variations, it will be quite exciting and different for me. There’s also the feeling of a different car, a different paddock and checking out Formula E first hand, which is something I have a lot of friends involved in.”
The seven round event begins on Wednesday August 5th with the champion crowned on Thursday 13th.
