Nick Catsburg has been confirmed as a BMW factory driver for the German marque’s assault on the 2016 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring with its brand new M6 GT3 racecar.

Catsburg, from Voorthuizen in The Netherlands, has enjoyed a great deal of success in endurance and GT racing and his impressive CV includes wins in the Blancpain Endurance Series and VLN, although he has also competed in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and Dutch GT Championship, in which he finished third in 2012.

However, the rapid Dutchman’s crowning glory is his victory in the 2015 edition of the Spa 24 Hours and he feels privileged to have been selected as a BMW works driver, believing that he will be in a prime position to defend his Spa 24 Hours win and shoot for the top at ‘The Ring’ also.

“It’s pretty cool to be chosen as a BMW works driver for the Spa and Nürburgring 24 Hours,” said Catsburg. “I have been racing BMW GT3 cars for some time now and it’s great to be recognised as a factory driver by one of the world’s greatest automotive brands, which has a great deal of pedigree in motorsport.

“I’m joining a strong, high-calibre pool of drivers and I’m really happy to be involved with the M6 GT3 programme from the very beginning too. I completely trust BMW to build a good racecar and I’m confident we will be a frontrunner from the outset. The Spa and Nürburgring 24 Hours are insanely cool events and it would be fantastic to win both with BMW. I feel this partnership creates more opportunities to win and I’m certainly looking forward to returning to the top at Spa.”
