Devon Modell and his TF Sport team will be targeting podium glory in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship when the series resumes at Norfolk’s Snetterton ‘300’ circuit this weekend (21-22 June).

The Avon Tyres-backed British championship features some of the world’s finest supercar marquees and is currently enjoying a golden era as one of the most hotly-contested GT contests on the planet.

Tucked into the scenic Norfolk countryside, Snetterton ‘300’ offers drivers a tough challenge as it’s 2.99mile layout draws inspiration from iconic corners such as Monza’s Parabolica and the Montreal Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve’s Hairpin.

Having stood on the podium in all four of this season’s meetings, Modell and teammate Andrew Jarman reclaimed the lead of the GT4 Drivers’ standings from Beechdean Aston Martin rivals Jake Giddings and Ross Wylie at Silverstone earlier this month, after finishing the three-hour endurance race third in class.

Modell, from Maidstone, subsequently heads into Snetterton’s fourth round of the British GT Championship in a jubilant mood and will be seeking to continue his unbroken run of podium finishes.

“It’s good to be back in the lead of the championship,” said Modell. “This weekend features two one-hour sprint races, which I prefer; anything can happen in GT racing, such as mechanical issues or collisions, but you have another chance in the second race.

“I’m not sure how the Aston Martin V8 Vantage will suit Snetterton, as it’s a very mixed track. It has lots of fast straights and tight, twisty corners, which shift weight balance in the car and is something we’ve been struggling with. We’ve got to take each weekend as it comes, as we don’t know how we are going to fare until qualifying, but we’ve finished on the podium a lot this season and that will put us in a very good position come the end of the season.”

Qualifying for Rounds 5 and 6 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship is scheduled to get underway at 16.40 on Saturday (21 June) and will be followed by the weekend’s two races at 11.40 and 16.25 on Sunday (22 June).
