August in Action: Driver Performances & Results
8th – 10th August
DTM – Nürburgring
The month kicked off at the Nürburgring for Round 5 of the DTM championship.
Ben Green had a standout Race 1, qualifying P4 and securing a well-earned P2 podium, his strongest result of the season to date. A grid penalty in Race 2 saw him start from P22 despite qualifying P17, but he worked his way up to finish P15 in difficult conditions.
Jordan Pepper showed consistency throughout the weekend. In Race 1, he qualified P9 and raced to P4, just missing the podium. Race 2 saw him qualify P4 and finish in P9, rounding off a solid weekend for the TGI Lamborghini driver.
15th – 17th August
Summer Break- No racing this weekend – a brief summer pause before a double weekend in Spa, Sachsenring, and in the States.
22nd – 24th August
ELMS & Michelin Le Mans Cup – Spa-Francorchamps
The ELMS round at Spa was defined by ever-changing weather, with rain affecting qualifying and adding drama to the race.
Nick Yelloly in the #43 LMP2 for Inter Europol Competition put in a strong recovery from P10 in qualifying to finish the race in a brilliant P2. He also set the fastest lap of the race and delivered an outstanding stint that was key to securing the podium.
In LMP3, Tim Creswick shared the #88 with Douwe Dedecker and Reece Gold. Dedecker qualified P5 and the trio brought it home for a well-deserved P3 podium.
In the Michelin Le Mans Cup, BAM supported multiple entries, including the Adess/Nielsen Racing line-up and Inter Europol Competition.
- Mikkel Kristensen & Henry Cubides (#4, Adess/Nielsen Racing) started P15 but were forced to retire after a tough race.
- Colin Noble & Tom Fleming (#7, Adess/Nielsen Racing) started P12 and finished P13 after a challenging run at Spa.
- Tim Creswick, racing solo in the #34 Inter Europol LMP3, had an excellent qualifying performance in the wet – placing P8 – and delivered a fantastic P3 podium finish, rounding off a double podium weekend at Spa.
DTM – Sachsenring
At Sachsenring, DTM action continued with mixed fortunes for BAM drivers.
Ben Green looked set for a strong weekend. In Race 1, he qualified P3 and was running in P6 before a spin on the final lap ended his race in disappointment. He bounced back in Race 2, qualifying P6 and converting it to a superb P3 podium finish.
Jordan Pepper starred in Race 1, taking pole position and leading the majority of the race before finishing P2. In Race 2, he qualified P4 but was unable to finish the race due to contact.
IMSA – Michelin GT Challenge at VIR
Stateside, the IMSA Michelin GT Challenge took place at VIR, with multiple BAM drivers on the GTD Pro and GTD grids.
- Dan Harper (Paul Miller Racing, GTD Pro) qualified P3, but was forced to retire following a collision.
- Neil Verhagen (Paul Miller Racing, GTD Pro) started P2 and finished P6.
- Nicky Catsburg (Corvette Racing, GTD Pro) recovered from P6 in qualifying to score a well-earned P3 podium.
- Alec Udell (DXDT Racing, GTD) qualified P8 and finished P10 after a consistent drive.
29th – 31st August
The final weekend of August wrapped up with GT World Challenge action in both Europe and Asia.
At the Nürburgring, Round 8 of the GTWC Europe series was defined by contact and unfortunate incidents that affected all BAM-supported drivers.
- Jordan Pepper (#63 GRT Lamborghini, Pro) battled with a tough BoP and a challenging car setup all weekend but managed to fight through and finish P5 with a spirited drive.
- Alec Udell & Daniel Ali ( #24 Steller Motorsport, Silver) were forced to retire on the opening lap of the race after being hit twice.
- Dan Harper in the #991 Paradine in the Bronze class never got the chance to drive after his teammate was hit on lap four and had to retire the car. It was a frustrating outing for the team.
Meanwhile, in Japan, Ben Green returned to GT World Challenge Asia with Johor Racing for Rounds 9 and 10.
- In Race 1, starting late, he fought through from 17th and was one of the fastest drivers on track, but unfortunately no result.
- In Race 2, he qualified on the front row in P2 and looked set for a strong result, but another incident brought his race to an early end. A tough weekend that didn’t reflect the pace shown.
