WestCoast Racing will throw caution to the wind in pursuit of victory in the season-ending Suncity Group 62nd Macau Grand Prix (19-22 November) with an all-star driver line-up that includes World Champion and seven-time Macau winner, Rob Huff, and leading Chinese racer, Sunny Wong.
The inaugural TCR International season comes to a conclusion as part of the illustrious Macau Grand Prix, which is universally held in high regard as a glittering highlight in the international motorsport calendar.
The event becomes the focus of attention for the entire motor racing fraternity this time each and every year and the world’s most esteemed teams and drivers consistently turn out to compete on the infamous barrier-lined Circuito da Guia street track, which is considered to be one of the sternest challenges in world motorsport.
As the TCR International Series titles are now out of reach, WestCoast Racing has nothing to lose by taking a no holds barred approach into Macau and victories are the sole objective for the Swedish team.
An all-star quartet of drivers inspires confidence; WestCoast Racing full-timers, experienced head Gianni Morbidelli and Macau debutant Kevin Gleason, will be joined by prolific China Touring Car race winner Wong and former FIA World Touring Car Champion Huff, whose record is second to none with no fewer than seven Macau Grand Prix victories to his name.
WestCoast Racing Team Manager, James Nixon, said: “I’m expecting the Suncity Group 62nd Macau Grand Prix to be fantastic and, with no title to fight for, we’re simply out to win. Gianni (Morbidelli) showed fantastic pace last time out in Thailand and is undoubtedly only interested in winning, while Kevin (Gleason) showed everybody the way home on the last street circuit the TCR International Series visited in Singapore and will be a contender for glory.
“Of course, we welcome two new names to the WestCoast Racing fold in Macau. Sunny (Wong) wants to show us what he can do in one of the team’s Hondas with a fantastic team and strong teammates around him. Then you have our fourth driver, Rob Huff. I’ve heard he’s quite quick, especially in Macau, so there’s only one target in his mind! We can expect a big inter-team battle and we may even inadvertently play a role in determining the outcome of the Drivers’ title. I just hope the quickest driver takes the gold!”
