WestCoast Racing head to Russia for Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2016 TCR International Series at Sochi Autodrom (2-3 July 2016) seeking victory on home soil for Mikhail Grachev.
Designed by legendary F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke around the Olympic Park, this circuit was inaugurated in 2014, hosting the first Russian Grand Prix and now hosts the TCR International Series for the second time.
While Oschersleben proved to a be tough weekend for the team, Grachev is looking to get back to his winning ways as he targets his third win in just four events and close the gap further on his championship rivals.
Gianni Morbidelli, sixth in the standings with 114 points, meanwhile is seeking a solid result after a difficult run of results in his ‘Step 2’ Honda Civic TCR but is aiming to get his championship programme back on track.
Meanwhile, the team meanwhile also welcome Russian racer Ildar Rakhmatullin, who raced with the team last year, back to the fold.
WestCoast Team Manager, James Nixon, believes that the team will be able to challenge for the victory this weekend having had the success ballast reduced to zero, therefore putting the team on a more equal footing with the other manufacturers.
“The home race for Mikhail will hopefully provide us with the third victory,” Nixon explained with reference to Imola and Salzburg. “Whilst Gianni will as always be pushing for victory, this weekend he needs a change in fortune after bad luck in the last couple of races.
“The ever hard-working team at WestCoast will for sure be giving the drivers the best cars they can as they all try to get back into the championship fight once again.”
The two 30-minute Russian rounds of the championship take place Sunday 3 July 2016.
