Having got a handle on its Citroen C-Elysees, Teamwork Motorsport is targeting strong top eight finishes as the 2014 SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) culminates on the untried and untested Yancheng Street Circuit (1-2 November).

The Guangdong-based team most recently overcame penalties and performance restrictions to achieve a top six result in the penultimate round of the season on the ultra-modern Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) – China’s premier motorsport venue – in a confidence-inspiring display that demonstrates it has made genuine headway with its pair of new-for-2014 Citroen C-Elysees.

The CTCC organising committee confirmed changes to its calendar following the announcement that the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) would be visiting mainland China twice during the closing stages of the 2014 season.

Having run in parallel with the WTCC at Beijing’s Goldenport Park Circuit and the SIC, the flourishing China Touring Car Championship now reaches its climax on the brand new Yancheng Street Circuit in the Jiangsu Province.

The 2.8km street track, which carves its way through the eastern coastal province, will be unchartered territory for all concerned, levelling the playing field for the CTCC’s highly-anticipated season finale and giving the fledgling Teamwork Motorsport outfit and its drivers, Alex Hui and Sunny Wong, cause for optimism as it continues on a steep learning curve with the Citroen C-Elysee.

Hui said: “Yancheng is a new street circuit and nobody has experience on it. Since being asked to fit a smaller 33mm restrictor on the cars, I think our straight-line performance has been hit hard and it proved to be a difficult weekend last time out at the Shanghai International Circuit. Nevertheless, we ended the weekend with a fifth place, which means we have a good chassis, so I think the Yancheng circuit will suit our car reasonably well and I’m expecting some good results. I will be disappointed if we don’t reach our target of achieving top eight finishes again. Sunny (Wong) and I are now getting used to the Citroen C-Elysee better, but I’m sure there is plenty of room for further improvements.”
