Teamwork Motorsport achieved outstanding results last time out at Shanghai International Circuit where five TCR China trophies were claimed among our six drivers and three race cars. Alex Hui scored the first ever pole position in the #31 VW Golf, while #62 Alex Fung set the fastest lap in race two in the #62. Teamwork currently sit second in the teams’ championship, while #62 Sunny Wong/Alex Fung also second in the drivers’ championship.
The second round of the championship also takes place at Shanghai International Circuit. This time the 5.45km full-layout will be used. Moreover, grid will be combine with racers from TCR Asia. With all the top teams and drivers from China and Asia in the same race, it is expected to be quite a challenge and spectacle for the fans.
Following the first round of the championship, Teamwork Motorsport has a better understanding of the Golf TCR package and how the tyres perform on the circuit.
“It has been a great experience racing with my Teamwork teammates,” said Alex Fung said. “The Golf TCR was relatively a new driving experience for us, but we found some pretty competitive settings quite quickly because we worked and learned together. We still have room to improve and I am confident we will be more competitive in long run.”
Paul Poon added: “It was my first time competing with the Golf TCR last time, so in every session I was learning and improving. Now I am confident to come back to our second weekend. The race format is a little different this time because of the TCR China and Asia are competing together on a mixed grid. The race distance will be longer and we certainly need to adapt our settings to maximise the performance of the tyres.
TCR China and Asia will be held on 26-27 August in the Shanghai International Circuit. The Grantt Lubricant supported entries will once again see three pairs of drivers competing; #26 Felipe Souza/Samuel Hsieh, #31 Paul Poon/Alex Hui, and #62 Sunny Wong/Alex Fung. Live Streaming will be available on YouTube channel.
