Teamwork Motorsport will return to the Guangdong International Circuit (GIC) for Round 5 of the SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) with some mid-season upgrades installed to its pair of Citróen C-Elysées (14-16 August).

With the new 2.0T category set to replace the outgoing 1.6T class as of next season, Teamwork Motorsport has made the decision to enter the former for the remainder of the 2015 season, warranting significant performance upgrades to it’s pair of Citróen racecars.

With last season’s CTCC racer, Alex Hui, returning to the fold this weekend, replacing Samuel Hsieh, it is hoped that the team could once again fight at the sharp-end with its recent engine upgrades, following mechanical issues having so far plagued the team’s bid for outright race victories.

“I am glad to be back racing along with my 2014 teammate Sunny (Wong),” said Hui. “My last round in Korea felt just like yesterday. My pace was very well and I thought I could win it, before an unfortunate heating issue slapped us again. This weekend I am supposed to drive with an upgraded engine, so let’s see what we can do with it.”

The Hong Kong Touring Car Championship (HTCC) came to a close in July and Teamwork’s trio dominated the Drivers’ standings, filling the top three places, with Samson Fung crowned Champion ahead of Paul Poon and Andrew Lo in second and third respectively.

The Teamwork Motorsport-run Suncity Group Racing Team also sealed the coveted Teams’ title and has earned spots in November’s Macau Grand Prix.

All Peugeot RCZs are now currently being refreshed and upgraded ahead of a series of tests to be conducted next month, in order to maximise its chances of fighting at the front in the season’s closing race on the demanding, barrier-lined Circuito da Guia street track.

The drivers are also very determined to stay ‘in the zone’ and maintain their high levels of fitness, with Poon and Fung opting to contest sporadic rounds of Formula Renault.

Also granted a place on the Macau GP’s Roadsport Challenge is last season’s CTCC racer, Alex Hui, who will pilot a Subaru WRX, which is currently being built by Teamwork Motorsport from scratch.
