After a long break from TCR series, Teamwork Motorsport once again seeks the challenge of a new series in the China region – TCR China – with three VW Golf TCRs.
The three pairs of drivers are: six-times Macau GP CTM race winner Paul Poon and 2014 -2016 Teamwork CTCC driver Alex Hui. 2014-16 CTCC driver Sunny Wong pair with Alex Fung, who claimed the CTM Cup second runner-up in his first year of racing in Macau GP.
Samuel Hsieh, 2014 Macau GP China Racing Cup race winner team up with Macanese veteran driver Felipe Souza, who raced in TCR Asia last year and also claimed second up in 2016 Macau GP CTM Cup. Six drivers are going to contest with Teamwork’s VW Golf TCR racers, with the latest 2017 package.
Macau last year saw lubricant company GRANTT supported two Teamwork Citroens in the MGP 2.0T Guia Race. This year the Malaysian marque continues partnering with Teamwork in the TCR China programme.
AICHEREN, a Chinese automobile tuning and service company, also supply one of the Golf TCR for Teamwork to run. Other partners include WTCC products supplier – Swedish dampers specialist OHLINS, REVO Technik, IDI Motor Sports. Last but by no means least, SUNCITY Group, which has been supporting Teamwork’s various racing programmes for some time.
TCR China is launched to meet the ever-growing demand in touring car racing in the China region. This new series features not only China’s well-known circuits in Shanghai, Guangdong, also new circuits in Zhejiang, Ningbo. Selected contenders will also be able to participate in the Macau GP invitation race.
There will be three races in each TCR China race weekend. Two sprint races and a one-hour race, to be driven by two drivers. This leaves various driver lineup options in the race weekend.
With such vast experience in China, Hong Kong and Macau regions, Teamwork Motorsport has high expectations in TCR China, which gets underway 5–6 August at Shanghai International Circuit, China.
