Teamwork Motorsport is getting back into a working rhythm now 2016 has begun and the Chinese outfit remains motivated by an unquenchable thirst for success, which has only been intensified by what it achieved in the 2015 China and Hong Kong Touring Car Championships.
Following a thorough review of the 2015 season, there are a host of improvements on Teamwork Motorsport’s agenda and a new Team Principal, Paul Hui, will lead the team through this evolution.
Paul Hui is a former Vice President at FRD and Team Director for the Changan Ford China Touring Car programme, and he notably led the team to seven Manufacturers’ titles during a nine-year dynasty between 2006 and 2014.
However, following a hiatus from the sport, Hui has been tempted out of retirement by Teamwork Motorsport and there is a sense of pride within the team that it has pulled off such a coup ahead of the critical 2016 season.
For Hui, Teamwork Motorsport’s structure and culture are top of the agenda and he said: “I think I’m an easy going personality and I like things to work in harmony. Motorsport is a team sport and I see the team members as family, but it is also an intense and competitive environment at the same time and, no matter what position or role you have, you need a competitive streak within you and the passion to outdo yourself and your peers.”
Teamwork Motorsport expects to continue on an upward curve by constantly pushing for improvements and remaining innovative and professional in 2016.
The China Touring Car Championship’s (CTCC) headlining 2.0T class will be one of the team’s primary programmes and, while its long-standing rivalry with the Volkswagen 333 Racing Team is sure to be reignited, newcomers like Changan Ford, BAIC and other privateer teams will make for a more intense and entraining spectacle.
In addition, the Teamwork-prepared Suncity Group Peugeot RCZs that claimed a one-two-three in the Hong Kong Touring Car Drivers’ Championship, as well as a spectacular one-two result in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix CTM Cup, will return in 2016 and their new liveries will be unveiled prior to the opening round of the season (5-6 March).
