SV Racing (SVR) is delighted to confirm the signing of 2014 Ginetta Junior Champion Jack Mitchell to its Renault UK Clio Cup roster for the forthcoming season.

With a strong background in motorsport, Mitchell began Karting at eight years old and collected many accolades along the way, finishing second in the British Karting Championships and Formula Kart Stars, before moving into cars at the age of 14.

Joining the TOCA support package in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2013, Mitchell enjoyed an outstanding debut season that exceeded all expectations, after amassing ten rookie trophies, three third-place finishes and becoming the first rookie ever to take an outright win.

Ultimately, Mitchell would accumulate 11 podium finishes – winning six of the opening eight rounds – the following season en route to being crowned the 2014 Ginetta Junior Champion.

While assessing his options for 2015, Mitchell, a resident of Kent, showed a great turn of speed in the winter months when he undertook several tests with the reigning UK Clio Cup Teams’ Champion, SV Racing, matching the pole position time from last year’s round at Donington Park in the East Midlands.

“Brands Hatch is a strong circuit of mine, having achieved wins there in the Ginetta Junior Championship last season, so I am excited to see how we get on in the Renault UK Clio Cup,” said Mitchell. “I’ve been testing a lot with SV Racing over the winter months, as it’s a big jump from Ginettas to Clios, but the team has given me a great car and I now feel I have got to grips with it. The racing in the UK Clio Cup is more intense and closely fought than I’ve experienced, but my time in the Ginettas has provided me with strong foundations that will allow me to get stuck in.

“Signing for SVR was an easy choice for me after witnessing what they achieved last season. They are always at the forefront of both the UK Clio Cup and Ginetta GT4 Supercup, plus they are a great bunch of guys who have given me a huge amount of support. Hopefully I can reward them with a strong finish at Brands Hatch.”

SV Racing Director, Danny Buxton, added: “Jack has shown a great deal of quality during his time in the Ginetta Junior Championship and the pre-season testing programme for 2015 and his involvement has refreshed the team, as we fully expect him to be a contender from the off at Brands Hatch. It’s good for me to work with a real young gun, because he’s like a sponge with information he receives and he’s very good at employing lessons learned. He has slotted into team and the Clio Cup car really well and he’s very fast, so my ambition for him is to reach the top three in the final championship standings.”

The 2015 Renault UK Clio Cup springs into life at Mitchell’s home Brands Hatch Indy circuit (4-5 April) and will tour the nation’s greatest racetracks, including Donington Park, Oulton Park and Silverstone, as part of the illustrious support package for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
