LADA SPORT ROSNEFT Team Principal, Victor Shapovalov, was awarded with the ‘Motorsport Man of the Year’ in the Russian Capital, Moscow last Saturday (11 April).
The Russian sports media judging panel also honoured Shapovalov and the LADA Sport team for its first wins for the LADA brand in last season’s FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), brought by 2012 WTCC Champion Rob Huff in Beijing and Macau.
In 2008, Shapovalov brought the Russian manufacturer into the WTCC for the first time under the Russian Bears Racing banner, who ran a LADA 110 model, before taking part as an official Manufacturer team in 2009.
Spending three full seasons in the WTCC (2009, 2013 and 2014), during this period the LADA Sport squad gained invaluable experience and accumulated engineering knowledge, with years of hard work rewarded with its first ever victories for the Russian marque.
With the all-new LADA Vesta car supported by Russian oil giant, Rosneft, the LADA SPORT ROSNEFT team has even higher ambitions for the 2015 season.
