SV Racing (SVR) can confirm that 2014 Indian Touring Car (ITC) Champion, Arjun Narendran, will test one of the team’s title-winning Clio Cup cars at Snetterton and Brands Hatch, as Ginetta Junior Champion, Jack Mitchell, returns.
Crowned UK Clio Cup Teams’ Champion in a superlative maiden season under the sole leadership of Danny Buxton, the Wettenhall-based SV Racing outfit has become synonymous with quality and victory and proudly provides a vibrant atmosphere where talent can be nurtured and race-winning cars developed.
The formation of a ‘stairway of talent’ saw SVR attract a potent crop of racers in 2014 and Buxton is keen to reinforce his commitment to cultivating and refining the skills of prospective touring car racers in future years, with Narendran and Mitchell undertaking testing programmes with the team during the off-season.
Wrapping up the 2014 Indian Touring Car Championship at the series finale on the state-of-the-art Buddh International Circuit, Narendran stormed to two race victories to bring his final tally up to nine in a dominant season for the Tamil Nadu-based driver.
Narendran, who splits his time between touring cars and the MRF Formula 1600 single-seater championship, will undertake two back-to-back tests.
The first will be held at Norfolk’s Snetterton circuit on Tuesday (2 December) – the fast, flowing nature of the circuit is sure to put the Indian through his paces – before traveling 100 miles south to Kent’s iconic Brands Hatch track the following day (Wednesday 3 December).
Joining Narendran will be newly-crowned Ginetta Junior Champion, Mitchell, who returns to the SVR fold for a second time after a highly successful test at Donington Park earlier this month.
Matching the pole position time from this year’s UK Clio Cup round on the East Midlands track on used tyres, Mitchell, who is also assessing his options for next season, showed great promise last time out and will be looking to continue demonstrating his natural flair behind the wheel at two of Britain’s most challenging circuits.
SV Racing Director, Danny Buxton, said: “Arjun (Narendran) has been looking to break into Europe, specifically the UK, and wants to compete alongside some of the world’s best racing drivers. It will be a huge test for him in terms of testing an unfamiliar car on unfamiliar circuits and there will be a lot to take in, but you don’t become a Champion in any series unless you have a strong race pedigree, so I’m really excited about getting him behind the wheel of one of our Clio Cup cars and seeing what he can do alongside Jack (Mitchell), who has already proven to be adaptable and has shown a strong turn of speed.”
