The SV-led Horsepower Racing team is hoping to seal the 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship GTC Class title during this weekend’s season finale on the Donington Park GP circuit (5-6 October).

After a highly-positive exploratory outing in the Avon Tyres-backed series at Circuit Park Zandvoort in September, Donington Park’s British GT title-decider provides the London-based Horsepower Racing outfit with another opportunity to evaluating its options for the 2014 season.

However, as the sole GTC Class contender, the Paul Bailey/Andy Schulz driver pairing will seal class honours in the British GT Championship by taking its Ferrari 458 GTC to the finish in Sunday’s two-hour race on the 2.49mile East Midlands circuit.

“Horsepower Racing’s maiden British GT outing was a huge success, as far as I’m concerned,” said Bailey. “The team is still assessing its options for the 2014 season and, having come away from Zandvoort with very positive views of the series, returning to the fray at Donington Park is an exciting prospect. It’s nice knowing that all we have to do to win the GTC title is finish the race, but we won’t rest on our laurels or take anything for granted!”

Schulz continued: “As long as we finish the race at Donington Park, we win the championship. It’s a similar situation to the one we faced at Zandvoort, only this time we have a better understanding of the Ferrari 458 GTC. It’ll be an honour to compete in the British GT Championship again and with the backing of a top-line team like SV, I’m pretty confident we can seal the GTC title. It would be great to enter 2014 as the reigning Champions!”

SV Team Manager, Tom Ferrier, concluded: “It’s a different format to the races at Zandvoort, as it’s over two-hours. While there’s nobody else in class, we still have to do everything to the best of our ability to take top honours in the GTC Class. It’s still very much a taster for 2014 and this will be a good experience for the team, building towards winter preparation with a slightly less pressured race.”

The two Avon Tyres British GT Championship free practice sessions are scheduled to begin at 9.35 and 11.40 respectively on Saturday (5 October), while qualifying gets underway at 15.45 later that same day.

The highly-anticipated two-hour season finale, meanwhile, is scheduled for 13.15 on Sunday (6 October) and will be broadcast live in its entirety on Motors TV.
