Teamwork Motorsport is buoyant going into Round 2 of the newly-formed TCR Asia Series at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand (11-12 June), fresh from opening its China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) race wins account.

The state-of-the-art FIA Grade 1 Thai venue has received high praise from all quarters since its inauguration, but, while the track’s 4.55km, 12-turn layout poses a challenge, heat is expected to be the main issue.

Weather forecasters say ambient temperatures in the region will rise to 37 degrees Celsius and Teamwork Motorsport and drivers Kevin Tse and Bill O‘Brien, believe this will be a stern test for competitors, team crews and the cars.

Teamwork Motorsport Team Manager, Ken Lui, said, “Teamwork Motorsport’s 2016 Volkwagen Golf TCR hasn’t raced in such hot weather, and we don’t have too much data on how this car will run in such a hot climate. The TCR Asia regulations prevent us from modifying the car’s cooling system, but we will keep communicating with the VW’s official TCR Asia supplier GUSTO Technik if we need the factory support.”

Macanese driver Kevin Tse impressively qualified on the front row in the previous round of the TCR Asia Series and arrives in Thailand with confidence, saying: “Last time I did well in qualifying and led the race for a moment, before I made a mistake on the opening lap. This time I won’t repeat the same mistake! I am very impressed with how Teamwork Motorsport analyses and tackles problems.”

Hong Kong-based American and BlackArts Racing Team Owner, Bill O’Brien, said will once again team-up with Tse in a second VW Golf racer for the Thai leg of the 2016 TCR Asia Series (10-12 June). Stay tuned for more updates.
