The Teamwork Motorsport-run Suncity Group Racing team will boast a potent father-son combination in 2016, as Alex Fung will join his elder, Samson, and Paul Poon for the new Hong Kong Touring Car Championship (HTCC) season.

The 2016 HTCC is set to commence at the Guangdong International Circuit (GIC) in China this weekend (5-6 March) and Suncity Group Racing carries momentum following a dominant 2015, when its Peugeot RCZs took the team to the 1.6T Drivers’ title and a spectacular one-two finish in the Macau Grand Prix CTM Cup.

Suncity Group has extended its lucrative partnership with Teamwork Motorsport and expects another successful year of competition, as HTCC rookie Alex Fung – the son of Teamwork Motorsport’s Samson Fung – joins the fold.

“It’s a privilege to race alongside my dad as part of Suncity Group Racing,” said Alex Fung. “This is my first season of racing and my priority is to learn more about motorsport and the Peugeot RCZ racecar, and I’m sure I will pick up a lot of knowledge from my veteran teammates, my father Samson and Paul Poon.”

Five-time Macau Grand Prix winner, Poon, said: “I am really looking forward to the start of the 2016 Hong Kong Touring Car Championship and I’m ready to fight alongside my team.  There aren’t any regulation changes this year, so our racecars stay unchanged from a technical perspective, but that doesn’t concern me. My target is to do my best and to do well in the opening weekend at the GIC to set good morale and momentum for the team and my teammates.”
