After two hours of racing at the demanding 24 Hours of Nürburgring, Rotek Racing currently sit 40th overall and leader of the SP4T class.

Opening the 24 Hours of Nürburgring for Rotek Racing was American-domiciled Kevin Gleason, who performed exceptionally well throughout the accident filled opening two hours to bring the car back to the pits in an impressive 40th overall, but maintaining the lead of the SP4T class.

Although the team are sitting in a strong position, it is not a true reflection of the both the team and car as an unscheduled pit stop prevented Gleason from rising up the leaderboard.

Sharing a fuel pump with five other cars, Rotek Racing opted to pit Gleason earlier than scheduled to put the car on an alternate fuel strategy in order to benefit the team for the remaining 22 hours.

Upon returning to the pits, Gleason handed the reigns of the Audi TTRS over to fellow American, Robb Holland.

Speaking after his drama filled stint, Gleason said: “I feel really pumped! It was great fun out there, but it’s crazy to just how many accidents are happening out there. At one point we nearly collided with a McLaren doing 5mph when I was topping 160mph. He was unsighted and thankfully missed him by the narrowest of margins, but had I hit him, I would have been dead no doubt.”
