With the trio of Lada Vesta TC1 cars making the long journey to the next round of the FIA WTCC Championship in Argentina, the team made the most of the month long break in the Championship to undertake a 3-day test at the Spanish Aragon track between 18-20 July.
Driving duties were shared between Gabriele Tarquini and Nicky Catsburg who worked through a busy test programme in the team’s “test” Vesta, making the most of the hot dry weather to conduct chassis work and other development tests.
2016 has been a significant step forward for the Russian Manufacturer and the team plan further tests during the next month long break when the cars make their way from South America to Asia.
After seven WTCC rounds LADA SPORT ROSNEFT has eight podiums, including two wins at the home race this June in Moscow. The Dutchman Nicky Catsburg is currently third in the Drivers’ Standings with only 4-points gap to Tiago Monteiro who holds the second place. Gabriele Tarquini is 8th, Hugo Valente is 11th. LADA is third in the Manufacturers’ Standings, ahead of the factory Volvo Polestar team.
The eighth WTCC Round will take place 6-7 August in Termas de Rio Hondo.
