There’s certainly no shortage of talent in the GT3 line-up for Oman Racing with TF Sport heading into the Intelligent Money British GT Championship, with all four Vantage seats occupied by 2019 title winners.
Blancpain GT Europe Endurance champion Ahmad Al Harthy is joined by Jonny Adam in the #7 car, while fellow GT3 champ and former teammate Graham Davidson is joined by rising star and GT4 title winner Tom Canning in the #1 Vantage.
Ahmad dominated what has become the GT World Challenge Europe championship in 2019, including a sensational victory at the 24 Hours of Spa. In addition, he previously won the Pro-Am title with Jonny in 2017 amongst many other accolades.
Teammate Jonny needs little introduction as he aims to extend his record-breaking tally of 16 wins in the series, whilst chasing his record fifth title with as many teammates. It’s a formidable pairing.
The sister GT3 sees Graham return to the team having claimed top honours with Jonny last year in what was his second season in the series. Heading into the 2020 championship, he has high expectation to add to his three wins to date and is delighted to be teaming up with TF’s reigning GT4 winner Tom Canning, who steps up to GT3.
The young 18-year-old AMR Academy winner secured victory at Spa-Francorchamps last year and three further podium on his way to the title and together with Graham and the team, aims to give teammates and rivals’ a battle for the championship.
For the team, the British championship remains at the heart of its 2020 programme. With 14 wins and four GT3 championships to its name, TF Sport expects nothing less than a repeat of its GT3 and GT4 success as the season concludes at Donington Park in September.
Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director
“We’re in a fortunate position to have four champions racing for us this year in British GT. Three of them proved themselves last year and it’s fantastic to see Tom Canning stepping up with us. It’s a pleasure to welcome back Oman Racing to this British championship. Ahmad knows the circuits well from his spell in the series in 2015 and has a great track record with Jonny. Championship is the name of the game as always.”
Ahmad Al Harthy #7
“I’m really looking forward to coming back to British GT, it’s a championship that has meant a lot to me over the years. It’s going to be a very competitive field and I’m proud to have Oman Racing back in Great Britain and with TF Sport – we have won so much together – and to have Jonny in the car with me is fantastic as well.
“I’ve followed the championship closely since I left in 2015 and I really do hope it will be a great year for us. The circuits are challenging; they really helped me develop my race-craft in the past and the level of competition is so high. We know what it takes to be competitive and we know it will require a lot of hard work but we’re up for the challenge.”
Jonny Adam #7
“It’s great to be returning to British GT. It’s my ninth season in the championship and it’s great to be back with Ahmad. The last time we raced together was 2017 in Blancpain and that was very successful! For him, it’s also positive to see the Oman Racing name back in British GT, it’s been four or five years. We have a nice line-up across the whole team with Graham and Tom and for me the goal is to try and mount a championship challenge and to go for number five.
“We’ve done a lot of work behind the scenes and delved into a lot of detail and found areas where we can further improve the car – even though we won the title last year – there were a few rounds where we could have got the car into a better (performance) window. Already in testing we have made some gains. The competition looks very strong this year but we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
Graham Davidson #1
“It’s my second season with TF Sport and together with Tom, we enter the championship very much in the mindset that we’re in it to win it. We’re also mindful of the teams’ title and with the expertise of TF Sport, we are confident and together have a good test programme in place ahead of Oulton Park.
“I’ll be using all the knowledge that Jonny has passed on to me to try and beat him this year. It’s not often that defending champions get to race against each other in the same team!
“We are also delighted to announce our new sponsor for 2020 as being Intelligent Money Private Clients, the direct to client, ISA, pension and investment management arm of British GT Championship title sponsor, Intelligent Money. As a package, I have everything I need to go for the double and I know that together with Tom Canning, we’ll be right up at the sharp end.”
Tom Canning #1
“2019 was a very successful season for me, winning the GT4 championship and taking the Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy award. I’m excited to step up into GT3, racing alongside Graham Davidson and after working with the team, I know that they are always hungry to win and will leave no stone unturned.
“To race alongside Graham – we’re both reining British GT champions in our respective classes – is an exciting prospect too. I know there’s a lot for me to learn at this higher level, but I have confidence heading into round one at Oulton Park and believe we’ll be fighting at the sharp end.
“I’m coming into my third season of the British GT Championship looking for wins and with the ultimate aim of being a championship contender throughout the season.”
